About Bokaro District
District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) is a Trust that functions as a non-profit body to “work for the interest, benefit of persons and areas affected by mining related operations”
The Ministry of Mines, through the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act,
1957 (2015 Amendment) authorizes all District Mineral Foundations (Trust) to collect part of the
royalties coming from the mining companies (10 % royalty collected from companies involved
in mining activities on or after 12th January 2015 and 30 % royalty collected from companies
involved in mining activities before 12th January 2015). Fund collection directly depends upon
mining production, this benefits the communities and areas in districts directly or indirectly
affected by mining-related operations thus paving the way for bringing about development in
these areas. The provision of the District Mineral Foundation opens a window of opportunity to
uplift the socio-economic status of mining-affected communities.
The Bokaro District Administration as per the PMKKKY guidelines, allocated an amount of 863
Cr from the DMFT to uplift the mining-affected populace. Out of the total funds, allocated
towards infrastructure development (construction of Water Plant, Remodeling of Anganwadi,
Hospital facilities, etc.)
